This book review is in memory of the legendary scientist, Stephen Hawking, who sadly passed away on 14 March 2018.
George’s Cosmic Treasure Hunt is a book that combines the fascination of science with the satisfaction of reading a children’s novel. It also includes 32 pages of coloured satellite images of space!
The book is about an adventure involving George and his best friend Annie, two normal children. When Annie and her father move to the US, George is heartbroken, but is given a special gift, ‘ The User’s Guide to the Universe’. Annie thinks that she is receiving peculiar warnings on her super computer, Cosmos. Suspicions arise. Is it a message from aliens? Is there life in space? Unable to resist, the friends venture out into space on a cosmic mission, with the help of Annie’s scientist father…
My favourite part is when the enemy’s plan backfires and his true identity is revealed…
I would rate this book 5/5 because it is humorous and educational.

Cosmic Pencil Tops
Let your imagination fly by making these cosmic pencil tops.
SUPPLIES:
- Polystyrene ball
- Pencil
- Food colouring of your choice
- Glitter
- Gold stars
- Pipe cleaner
- Glue (hot glue gun preferably)
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Make a hole in the bottom of the polystyrene ball using a pencil.
2. Soak the ball in food colouring, and allow it to dry for a day.
3. Once dry, using the glue gun stick the pipe cleaner around the polystyrene ball.
4. Glue on any space stickers, gold stars or glitter.
5. Place the finished polystyrene ball onto the pencil. Voila! You’re done.
